BSc Nursing & BNS Cut Off 2082: Scholarship & Paying Seats

If you have seen the 44.25 pass mark for BSc Nursing going round and wondered whether it is enough, here is the honest answer. Passing made you eligible in 2082. It did not give you a seat.

In CEE 2082, the last open scholarship seat in BSc Nursing went to a score of 95.75 (rank 927). The lowest score to win a paying seat at any college was 57.00 (rank 4674). Reserved-category scholarships closed anywhere between 44.50 and 69.75. In BNS, the open scholarship closed at 110.50 (rank 1025), and the last paying seat went to rank 1535, which was also the number of candidates who passed.

Pass mark, cut-off rank and cut-off score: what each one tells you

These three numbers get mixed up all the time, and the mix-up costs students seats.

The pass mark is the line for eligibility. Score below it and you are out of matching altogether. Score above it and you are in the running, nothing more.

The cut-off rank is the overall CEE rank of the last student admitted to a seat. MEC allots seats in rank order, so this is the number that decides your outcome.

The cut-off score is the lowest score among the students admitted to that seat. It is useful for setting a study target. When two students share a score, rank breaks the tie, which is why the rank column matters more once results are out.

BSc Nursing scholarship cut-off 2082 by category

There were 711 BSc Nursing scholarship seats in 2082, plus 20 seats under the Nepal Army Welfare Fund. More than half of them, 394 seats, were open merit. The last open seat went to rank 927 with a score of 95.75.

The reserved categories tell a very different story. The Female category had 89 seats and closed at 69.25, more than 26 marks below the open cut-off. The Dalit category closed at 44.50, just a quarter of a mark above the pass mark.

If you are eligible for a reserved category, check that it is claimed correctly on your CEE application and supported by the right documents. With a gap that wide, an unclaimed category can be the difference between a scholarship and a paying seat.

BSc Nursing paying seat cut-off 2082, college by college

Paying seats are where most BSc Nursing students land, so this is the table worth studying closely.

Six colleges needed a score above 80 for a paying seat: Maharajgunj Nursing Campus (86.25), Nepalese Army Institute of Health Sciences (85.50), the School of Health and Allied Sciences at Pokhara University (84.25), Lalitpur Nursing Campus (84.00), Pokhara Nursing Campus (81.50) and Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences (81.25). B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences and K.U. School of Medical Sciences followed at 78.50 and 78.25.

Below that, the field tightens quickly. Of the 58 colleges, 42 closed at 61 or lower, and 39 of those sat in a narrow band between 57 and 60. Krishna Medical and Technical Research Centre in Dhanusa had the lowest paying cut-off, at 57.00 and rank 4674.

That narrow band is the hard part. A difference of two or three marks moved students across dozens of colleges, so the order in which you list your preferences mattered as much as the score itself. Use the search box to find a college or district.

How the open scholarship cut-off moved across the four matching rounds

MEC published four lists for BSc Nursing in 2082: first matching on 2 Poush, first re-matching on 9 Poush, second matching on 15 Poush and second re-matching on 23 Poush.

Seats freed up at every stage. In the first list, the last open scholarship rank allotted anywhere was 747. By the second re-matching it had moved to 927. A student ranked 900 who saw nothing in the first list could still have been allotted an open scholarship three weeks later.

So if the first list does not include your name, stay in the process. Keep your documents ready and watch each list on the day it comes out.

BNS cut-off 2082: scholarship and paying seats

If you already hold PCL Nursing and are moving up to the bachelor’s level through BNS, your numbers look quite different from BSc Nursing.

1535 candidates passed the BNS entrance in 2082, competing for 451 scholarship seats plus 20 under the Nepal Army Welfare Fund. The open scholarship had 245 seats and closed at 110.50 (rank 1025).

Paying seats ran almost to the end of the pass list. The last paying seat in the 2082 list went to rank 1535 at Hope International College, the same number as the candidates who passed. The scores were packed tightly. Of the 40 colleges, 28 closed between 98.25 and 99.50, so a single mark could move you about 40 places in rank.

One entry stands apart. Krishna Medical & Technical Research Centre is listed with a paying cut-off of 139.25 at rank 206, far above every other college. Check that college’s line in the MEC matching list before drawing conclusions from it.

Scholarship or paying seat: what it means for your family’s budget

For parents, this is the question underneath every number on this page. Will we be paying the full fee or not?

A scholarship seat and a paying seat lead to the same degree and the same Nepal Nursing Council licence exam at the end. The difference is cost, and it is large. Here is how we suggest families plan, based on the 2082 figures:

• Plan for a paying seat unless mock test scores are consistently in the mid-90s for BSc Nursing or around 110 for BNS.
• If your child is eligible for a reserved category, budget for both outcomes, since quota cut-offs in BSc Nursing ranged from 44.50 to 69.75.
• Have the admission payment ready from the first matching list. The four lists in 2082 came out within three weeks, between 2 and 23 Poush, so decisions come fast.
• Talk through the college list together before preferences are locked. A college that closed at 86.25 and one that closed at 58.00 are very different bets for the same score.

What the 2082 cut-offs mean for CEE 2083

Treat last year’s cut-offs as a range, not a promise. They move each year with the number of seats, the number of candidates and the difficulty of the paper.

Still, the 2082 figures give you working targets. For BSc Nursing, an open scholarship needed a score in the mid-90s. Paying seats at Maharajgunj, Lalitpur and Pokhara nursing campuses needed scores in the 80s, while Biratnagar Nursing Campus closed at 72.00 and the Birgunj and Nepalgunj nursing campuses below 59. Most private colleges filled their paying seats between 57 and 61. For BNS, a score of 100 met the 2082 paying cut-off at 29 of the 40 colleges, and the open scholarship needed around 110.
