INC Extends the Nursing Admission Deadline to 31 October 2026
The Indian Nursing Council issued Notification No. 19 of 2026, dated 24 September 2026. It follows Notification No. 4 and Notification No. 6 of 2026 and extends the last date of admission for these nursing programs from 30 September 2026 to 31 October 2026:
- Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife (ANM)
- General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM)
- B.Sc. Nursing
- Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing
- M.Sc. Nursing
- Ph.D. Nursing
- Post Basic Diploma programs
- Nurse Practitioner programs
The notification says clearly that no further extension will be granted. You should treat 31 October 2026 as the final regulatory cutoff, not as the date to start your application.

How the Two INC Notifications Work Together
The two notices are related, but they are not identical.
Notification No. 4 establishes the common academic session and admission deadlines for ANM, GNM, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, M.Sc. Nursing, NPCC, Nurse Practitioner and Post Basic Diploma programs.
Notification No. 6 establishes the same session and admission dates for B.Sc. Nursing while adding a specific requirement: the entrance examination must have been conducted before 15 June 2026.
This distinction matters. The B.Sc. Nursing entrance-examination rule should not automatically be applied to every program listed in Notification No. 4. Each program and institution may have its own eligibility, selection, and document requirements within the overall INC schedule.
Does This Mean You Can Apply Until 31 October?
For nursing, 31 October 2026 is the latest date the INC allows. What the extension does: it gives colleges until 31 October 2026 to complete admissions for ANM, GNM, B.Sc. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, M.Sc. Nursing, Ph.D. Nursing, Post Basic Diploma and Nurse Practitioner programs. Separate NCAHP Deadline for Allied and Healthcare Courses
A separate public notice dated 21 August 2026 was issued by the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions.
The notice states that institutions offering undergraduate and postgraduate Allied and Healthcare courses for the 2026–27 academic year must complete their admission processes on or before 30 September 2026.
This NCAHP notice applies to allied and healthcare education rather than the nursing programs regulated through the INC notifications. It is therefore important to identify which authority oversees your intended course.
In practical terms:
- Nursing applicants should follow the relevant INC, entrance-authority, and institution notices.
- Allied and healthcare applicants should check NCAHP requirements together with university and institution instructions.
- Applicants should not assume that one regulator’s eligibility or entrance rules automatically apply to programs governed by another regulator.
