India Nursing Admission Deadline 2026–27 INC and NCAHP Update

If you are planning to study nursing or an allied-health course in India, 30 September 2026 is an important date. The Indian Nursing Council (INC) has announced the final admission date for specified nursing programs, while a separate notice from the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) sets the same deadline for undergraduate and postgraduate allied-health admissions.

For help comparing health-science courses, institutions and admission requirements, review our Study in India guidance for students from Nepal.

The two INC notifications cover different parts of the nursing admission process. One establishes the general deadline for several nursing programs, while the other provides a separate entrance examination and admission schedule specifically for B.Sc. Nursing. Here is what you and your parents need to understand.

Key Admission Dates for 2026-27

Admission EventOfficial Date
B.Sc. Nursing entrance examinationTo be conducted before 15 June 2026
Commencement of the nursing academic session1 August 2026
Final nursing admission deadline30 September 2026
Final UG and PG allied-health admission deadlineOn or before 30 September 2026

The academic session commencement date and entrance-examination date have already passed. However, the final admission deadline stated in the notices is 30 September 2026.

INC Deadline for Nursing Programs

In Notification No. 4 of 2026, dated 27 January 2026, the Indian Nursing Council established 30 September 2026 as the final admission date for the following programs:

  • Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife (ANM)
  • General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM)
  • Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing
  • M.Sc. Nursing
  • Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care (NPCC)
  • Other Nurse Practitioner programs
  • Post Basic Diploma programs

The notification states that the 2026–27 academic session should commence on 1 August 2026 and that admissions must close on 30 September 2026.

It also clearly states that requests to extend the deadline will not be considered. You should therefore treat 30 September as the final regulatory cutoff, not as a date on which to begin your application.

Separate B.Sc. Nursing Admission Schedule

INC Notification No. 6 of 2026, dated 29 January 2026, applies specifically to the B.Sc. Nursing programme.

The schedule requires:

  • The entrance examination to be conducted before 15 June 2026
  • The academic session to commence on 1 August 2026
  • The admission process to close on 30 September 2026

According to the notification, B.Sc. Nursing admissions for the 2026–27 academic year must take place through a Common Entrance Examination conducted by a State Government Common Entrance Cell or an eligible university.

Candidates must also meet the admission conditions and entrance-examination criteria prescribed in the B.Sc. Nursing syllabus.

If you are still exploring this program, our B.Sc. Nursing in India application guide explains the course, application process, documents, and practical considerations for students applying from Nepal.

How the Two INC Notifications Work Together

The two notices are related, but they are not identical.

Notification No. 4 establishes the common academic session and admission deadlines for ANM, GNM, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, M.Sc. Nursing, NPCC, Nurse Practitioner and Post Basic Diploma programs.

Notification No. 6 establishes the same session and admission dates for B.Sc. Nursing while adding a specific requirement: the entrance examination must have been conducted before 15 June 2026.

This distinction matters. The B.Sc. Nursing entrance-examination rule should not automatically be applied to every program listed in Notification No. 4. Each program and institution may have its own eligibility, selection, and document requirements within the overall INC schedule.

Does This Mean You Can Apply Until 30 September?

Not necessarily.

The INC notice provides the final admission cutoff, but a university, entrance authority, or nursing institution may set an earlier deadline for applications, counseling, document verification, fee payment, or seat confirmation.

You may also need time to:

  • Confirm your academic eligibility
  • Check the entrance-examination requirement
  • Compare recognized institutions
  • Prepare and verify academic documents
  • Obtain migration or equivalence-related documents where applicable
  • Complete university registration
  • Pay the required fees
  • Arrange accommodation and travel
  • Report to the institution before classes or orientation

Waiting until 30 September could leave too little time to correct missing documents or complete institutional procedures.

What Students Applying from Nepal Should Check

Before paying an application or admission fee, verify the following directly with the university or institution:

  1. Whether the institution is authorized to offer the selected nursing program.
  2. Whether the program and annual intake are recognized by the appropriate Indian authority.
  3. Which entrance examination applies to your program.
  4. Whether the institution accepts applicants educated in Nepal.
  5. Which academic, identity, migration, and equivalence documents are required.
  6. The complete fee structure, including tuition, hostel, examination, and administrative charges.
  7. The institution’s refund rules in writing.
  8. The final reporting and document-verification dates.

Parents should review the recognition status, complete cost, and refund conditions before making a payment. A regulatory deadline alone does not confirm that a particular institution, course, or seat is suitable for you.

Our nursing study-abroad document checklist can help you organize the academic and identification documents commonly needed during the application process. Always compare the checklist against the exact requirements issued by your chosen institution.

Separate NCAHP Deadline for Allied and Healthcare Courses

A separate public notice dated 21 August 2026 was issued by the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions.

The notice states that institutions offering undergraduate and postgraduate Allied and Healthcare courses for the 2026–27 academic year must complete their admission processes on or before 30 September 2026.

This NCAHP notice applies to allied and healthcare education rather than the nursing programs regulated through the INC notifications. It is therefore important to identify which authority oversees your intended course.

In practical terms:

  • Nursing applicants should follow the relevant INC, entrance-authority, and institution notices.
  • Allied and healthcare applicants should check NCAHP requirements together with university and institution instructions.
  • Applicants should not assume that one regulator’s eligibility or entrance rules automatically apply to programs governed by another regulator.

The NCAHP regulates recognized Allied and Healthcare professions under India’s NCAHP framework. Updates and institutional information can be checked through the official Allied and Healthcare portal.

What Should You Do Before 30 September 2026?

If you have already completed the applicable entrance and eligibility requirements, take these steps promptly:

  1. Confirm whether admissions are still active at your selected institution.
  2. Request the current admission requirements in writing.
  3. Check the program’s approval and university affiliation.
  4. Submit complete documents for verification.
  5. Review the full fee and refund terms with your parent or financial sponsor.
  6. Obtain a written admission or seat-confirmation document.
  7. Complete fee payment only through the institution’s authorized channel.
  8. Retain receipts, application records, and official correspondence.

Do not make a payment solely because someone says the deadline is approaching. Confirm the institution, course, fees and recognition status first.
