About the Koshys Group of Institutions

The Koshys Group of Institutions runs colleges across several subjects in Bangalore. On this page, we cover only its health sciences colleges, which sit under Koshys Institute of Health Sciences. The group’s health sciences education began in 2003, when Mr C. Koshy opened Koshys College of Nursing with the General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) diploma. In 2020 the institute expanded and was renamed Koshys Institute of Health Sciences.

It added a second nursing college, Bangalore Little Flower College of Nursing, and a new allied health college, Koshys Institute of Allied Health Sciences. All three colleges are on Hennur–Bagalur Road in Kannur, a residential area on the north-east edge of Bangalore. Their degrees are awarded by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, the state health sciences university for Karnataka.

What sets the group apart for your training is that it runs its own hospitals. Koshys Multispeciality Hospital has operated since 2002 and is accredited by NABH, India’s national hospital quality board. Students from all three colleges do their clinical training at the group’s hospitals and at other hospitals the colleges use.

Which college should you look at?

  • For BSc Nursing, both nursing colleges teach the same RGUHS degree. At the moment we have 2026–27 fees only for Bangalore Little Flower, so ask us which college has seats for you.
  • For GNM, Post Basic BSc or MSc Nursing, Koshys College of Nursing is the group’s only option.
  • For an allied health career such as operation theatre, lab, imaging, dialysis or respiratory care, the allied health college is the right one.

Are Koshys qualifications recognised in Nepal?

Both kinds of qualification are recognised in India. In Nepal, each leads to its own registration route, and for nursing there is one step you must take before you leave home.

In India. RGUHS awards every degree and diploma listed here. Both nursing colleges are approved by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and the Karnataka State Nursing Council. You or your parents can check a college’s current INC status on the council’s list of recognised institutions at indiannursingcouncil.org, and it is worth doing before you pay any fee.

  • Nursing in Nepal. You can’t practise as a nurse on a foreign qualification alone. You must register with the Nepal Nursing Council (NNC) and pass its licensing examination. The NNC asks anyone who studied outside Nepal on or after 01/10/2020 to submit an eligibility letter from Nepal’s Medical Education Commission (MEC) with their licensing exam application. Get this letter sorted before you pay fees or travel, not after you graduate.
  • Allied health in Nepal. Allied health professionals, such as laboratory, imaging and anaesthesia technologists, register with the Nepal Health Professional Council, which runs its own licensing exam.
  • Beyond Nepal. An INC-recognised BSc Nursing is the usual starting point for the UK, Gulf and US routes. Each route has its own registration exam and English test.

Before admission: Request the current-year approval for the exact college and course. Admission approval in India, academic equivalence in Nepal, eligibility for a licensing examination and professional registration are separate decisions.

Why choose the Koshys colleges — and who they suit

Reasons you can check yourself:

  • You train in the group’s own hospitals. Koshys Multispeciality Hospital is NABH-accredited, with 24-hour emergency care, obstetrics and gynaecology, and a six-bed Level-3 neonatal ICU.
  • The fees are published in full. The 2026–27 admission letters list every fee head for BSc Nursing and OT & AT, including food and accommodation, so your family can budget for all four years before you commit.
  • More than 20 years of nursing batches. The group has taught nursing since 2003.
  • One campus road, many options. If you are choosing between nursing and allied health, you can compare both at the same institution.
  • You can move up without changing institution. GNM, Post Basic BSc and MSc Nursing are all taught at Koshys College of Nursing.
  • Boys and girls live in separate hostels.

It may not suit you if:

  • You’re nervous about talking to patients in another language. Teaching is in English, but many patients in Bangalore speak Kannada, and you will also hear Tamil, Telugu and Hindi on the wards. This is the hardest adjustment in your first clinical year, and you will need to learn working phrases.
  • You want to live near the city centre. Kannur is on the north-east edge of Bangalore, and weekend trips into town take time.
  • Your allied health course has no clear Nepal registration route. Before you choose an allied health BSc, check with us that the title leads to registration in Nepal.
  • You need a scholarship to make it work. The group doesn’t publish any scholarship for international students.

Clinical training, internship and where these courses take you

Your clinical training runs at the group’s hospitals, as well as at other hospitals the colleges use:

  • Koshys Multispeciality Hospital, Ramamurthy Nagar: 100 beds, NABH-accredited, open since 2002. It provides 24-hour emergency care, general medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, and neonatology, including a six-bed Level-3 neonatal ICU.
  • Little Flower Hospital: 50 beds, with a focus on maternity and child health.

The Koshys and KCN websites place Little Flower Hospital in Ramamurthy Nagar, while the Bangalore Little Flower website names Cytecare Hospital (Little Flower Hospital Pvt. Ltd.) in Yelahanka as its parent hospital.

Where the qualification takes you. The group doesn’t publish placement data, so we don’t quote a placement rate. These are the routes:

  • In Nepal: nurses register with the Nepal Nursing Council, and allied health graduates with the Nepal Health Professional Council, after passing that council’s licensing exam.
  • In India: Nepali citizens can work in India without a work permit, but practising as a nurse also needs registration with a State Nursing Council.
  • Abroad: for nursing, the UK, Gulf and US routes start from an INC-recognised degree, plus that country’s own exam and English test.

Hostel, safety and campus facilities

Your parents will want to know where you sleep and who is responsible for you.

The colleges run separate hostels for boys and girls. They describe them as clean and furnished, with water purifiers, laundry, recreation and a hygienic mess. Doctors are available around the clock through the group’s hospital. For BSc Nursing at Bangalore Little Flower and OT & AT, food and accommodation are included in the annual fee (see fees section).

Campus facilities:

  • Library
  • Nursing skills and science laboratories
  • Wi-Fi campus
  • Sports facilities
  • College transport (included in the nursing fee as a transportation charge)
  • Clubs and student associations

Before choosing the hostel, request the current room photographs or a video tour, room occupancy, bathroom arrangement, meal plan, curfew and leave rules, visitor policy, medical support, security, transport, internet, electricity, laundry, refund terms and total annual cost.

Admission for Nepali students — eligibility, documents and steps

Eligibility

For BSc Nursing, the Indian Nursing Council sets these minimums:

  • NEB +2 in science with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English
  • An aggregate of at least 45%
  • Aged at least 17 on 31 December of your joining year
  • Medically fit

For GNM, you need +2 with English and at least 40%, and you must be aged 17 to 35. For Post Basic BSc, you need a GNM qualification and registration as a nurse and midwife.

For the allied health BSc programmes, you need +2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology and English (minimum percentage to be confirmed; see courses section).

IELTS or PTE: not required. Neither the colleges nor the INC lists an English test for admission.

Entrance test: the INC requires BSc Nursing admissions to go through a common entrance test run by a state or university.

Documents you will need

The college asks for these originals on the day of admission:

  • SEE (SLC) marksheet
  • NEB +2 marksheet
  • +2 equivalency certificate
  • Transfer certificate and migration certificate
  • Character certificate
  • Proof of date of birth
  • Citizenship certificate
  • 15 photographs (10 passport-size, 5 stamp-size)

You will also need:

  • Your passport, for travel and for college and RGUHS paperwork
  • An RGUHS eligibility certificate. RGUHS lets foreign nationals apply to its private colleges. The application needs a letter of introduction from your embassy, and your NEB +2 must be checked for equivalence with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). An eligibility certificate confirms you meet the requirements, but it doesn’t by itself secure you a seat.
  • An MEC eligibility letter from Nepal, for nursing (see the recognition section)

For how each of these is issued and attested, see our nursing abroad document checklist. Our counsellors check every one before anything is submitted.

How to apply from Nepal

  • Send us your NEB marksheet on WhatsApp. We check it against the course you want.
  • Nepal-side check. For nursing, we confirm your MEC eligibility letter route before you commit money.
  • Document review. Our counsellors review every document before it goes to the college.
  • Application. We apply directly to the right Koshys college for you.
  • Admission letter. The college issues a provisional admission letter with the full fee structure.
  • Admission fee. You pay the admission fee to confirm your seat. Final confirmation depends on your fees being paid and RGUHS approving your admission.
  • RGUHS eligibility and equivalence are processed.
  • Travel and reporting. You travel, move into the hostel and start classes.

Timing. The Indian Nursing Council’s academic year starts on 1 August. For 2026–27, the council’s final admission date for all nursing programmes is 31/10/2026, but colleges can close earlier or fill their seats sooner. For the latest position, read our INC admission deadline update.

Getting to Bangalore from Nepal — and life once you are there

Flying is the practical route. Bangalore is about 1,800 km from Kathmandu by air. Nepal Airlines flies non-stop from Kathmandu to Kempegowda International Airport in about 3 hours 25 minutes, and Air India Express lists a non-stop service from 25/10/2026. Other routes connect through Delhi or Kolkata. Schedules change, so check before you book. The airport is north of the city, on the same side as Kannur.

Going overland means crossing at Birgunj–Raxaul, Bhairahawa–Sunauli or Kakarbhitta–Panitanki, then taking an Indian train. It costs less, but the journey takes well over a day.

Documents to travel. Nepali citizens don’t need a visa to study in India. Travel on your passport. The Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi lists either the passport or the citizenship certificate as valid for air travel to India, but at least one airline accepts only a passport or voter ID from adults. A passport avoids problems at check-in.

Daily life. Bangalore is mild all year. Kannada is the local language, but English and Hindi are widely used. Get an Indian SIM card in your first week.

This page provides general information based on our experience supporting students and on published requirements at the time of writing. Immigration rules change frequently and every application is assessed individually. It is not immigration advice. Always confirm current requirements with the relevant embassy or a licensed adviser before acting.

Is a Koshys BSc Nursing valid in Nepal?

RGUHS awards the degree, and both nursing colleges are approved by the Indian Nursing Council and the Karnataka State Nursing Council. To work in Nepal, you register with the Nepal Nursing Council after passing its licensing exam. You also need an eligibility letter from Nepal’s Medical Education Commission, so arrange it before you leave.

Can I work in Nepal with a Koshys allied health degree?

Allied health professionals in Nepal register with the Nepal Health Professional Council after its licensing exam. Not every Indian allied health title matches a Nepal registration category, so before you choose between OT, imaging, lab, respiratory care or dialysis, ask us which ones lead to registration at home.

What NEB marks do I need?

For BSc Nursing, you need +2 in science with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, with at least 45% aggregate, and you must be 17 by 31 December. For the allied health BSc programmes, you need +2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. Send us your marksheet on WhatsApp and we’ll check it.

Do I need IELTS or PTE?

No. Neither the Koshys colleges nor the Indian Nursing Council asks for an English test for admission, and you are taught in English. You’ll only need IELTS, OET or a similar test later if you register as a nurse in the UK, the Gulf or another English-speaking country.

What is the SAARC registration charge?

It’s a one-time charge of INR 25,000 (about NPR 40,000) listed on the 2026–27 admission letters issued to Nepali applicants. You pay it alongside the admission fee, uniform and books charge, and hostel caution deposit. We’ll confirm exactly what it covers before you pay.

Where will I do my clinical training?

At the group’s hospitals, as well as at other hospitals the colleges use. Koshys Multispeciality Hospital has 100 beds, is NABH-accredited, and runs emergency care, obstetrics and gynaecology and a Level-3 neonatal ICU. Little Flower Hospital has 50 beds and focuses on maternity and child health.

Is there a separate hostel for girls?

Yes. The Koshys colleges run separate hostels for boys and girls, with a mess, water purifiers and laundry, and doctors available around the clock through the group’s hospital. Before you pay, we’ll confirm the room sharing, warden arrangements, gate timings and distance from college.

When do classes start, and when is the fee due?

For 2026–27, classes start in October 2026, and your first-year fees are due by October 2026. Later years are due by December each year. Your seat is confirmed once you pay the admission fee and RGUHS approves your admission. Message us on WhatsApp for the next intake.

Do I need a visa to study in India from Nepal?

No. Nepali citizens don’t need a visa to study in India. Travel on your passport. The Embassy of Nepal also lists the citizenship certificate for air travel, but some airlines accept only a passport or voter ID from adults.
