About East Point College of Nursing

East Point College of Nursing opened in 2004 as part of the East Point Group of Institutions, which the M. G. Charitable Trust runs on a single campus at Avalahalli, off Virgo Nagar in east Bangalore. Dr S. M. Venkatpathi founded the group, and the same campus also has colleges in other subjects, including a medical college.

Nursing is split across two institutions. East Point College of Nursing teaches the four-year BSc Nursing, which Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences awards. East Point School of Nursing teaches the three-year GNM diploma, which comes under the Karnataka State Diploma in Nursing Examination Board rather than RGUHS.

What shapes your training most is the campus hospital. The college lists a 600-bed teaching hospital on the same site, so your ward hours start a short walk from your classroom.

The intake is large. The Karnataka State Nursing Council’s 2025–26 list shows 250 BSc Nursing seats, so you’d be joining a big batch on a multi-college campus. It suits you if you want that scale and are ready to work through Karnataka’s entrance process for the BSc. If you’d rather weigh it against smaller campuses first, compare it with other nursing colleges in Bangalore.

Is East Point College of Nursing recognized in Nepal?

Your qualification needs to be recognized in India and then in Nepal. For nursing, Nepal’s side has one step you must take before you leave.

In India. RGUHS awards the BSc Nursing degree, and GNM is examined by the Karnataka State Diploma in Nursing Examination Board. The college is listed as recognised by the Indian Nursing Council and the Karnataka State Nursing Council. You or your parents can check its current status on the INC’s list of recognized nursing institutions, and it’s worth doing before you pay any fee.

In Nepal. You can’t practice as a nurse on a foreign qualification alone. You must register with the Nepal Nursing Council (NNC) and pass its licensing examination. The NNC asks anyone who studied outside Nepal on or after 01/10/2020 to submit an eligibility letter from Nepal’s Medical Education Commission (MEC) with their licensing exam application. It also asks foreign-trained graduates for equivalence and evidence of the institution’s recognition. Arrange the MEC letter before you pay fees or travel.

In India, after graduating. Indian Nursing Council guidance says foreign nationals, including Nepali citizens, who study nursing in India are not registered with an Indian State Nursing Registration Council for employment. Plan on using the degree in Nepal or abroad, not on working as a nurse in India.

Beyond Nepal. An INC-recognised BSc Nursing is the usual starting point for the UK, Gulf and US routes. Each route has its own registration exam and English test.

Why choose East Point College of Nursing — and who it suits

Reasons you can check yourself:

  • A 600-bed teaching hospital on campus. Your clinical training starts on the same site where you study and live.
  • Both nursing routes in one place. GNM through East Point School of Nursing and BSc Nursing through East Point College of Nursing, so you can compare the diploma and the degree at one institution.
  • GNM is open to more than science students. East Point’s published criteria accept 10+2 with English and 40%, with science preferred but not compulsory.
  • More than 20 years of nursing batches. The college has taught nursing since 2004.
  • Separate furnished hostels for boys and girls on a campus with its own library, sports complex, food court and medical facilities.

It may not suit you if:

  • You want a simple admission route. East Point says BSc applicants must appear for KCET. That’s the hardest part of this admission for a Nepali applicant, and we confirm your route with the college before you pay anything.
  • You want a small class where everyone knows you. A 250-seat batch is very different from a 60-seat college.
  • You’re nervous about patients speaking other languages. Teaching is in English, but many patients in Bangalore speak Kannada, Tamil, Telugu or Hindi. You’ll need working phrases in your first clinical year.

East Point College of Nursing fees for Nepali students — the full cost

East Point doesn’t publish a fee sheet for Nepali applicants, so these figures come from a third-party listing for the 2025–26 admission cycle. Treat them as a planning range, and we’ll get the college’s written fee schedule before you pay anything. NPR is converted at the fixed Nepal Rastra Bank rate of INR 1 = NPR 1.60.

Estimates add up the listed tuition, hostel, admission and exam fees. Source: GetMyCollege, 2025–26 admission cycle, accessed 06/10/2026. They are not confirmed by the college and may not reflect any fee set for SAARC or foreign applicants.

What is not included:

  • Uniforms, books, clinical equipment and university registration charges, which aren’t in the listing
  • Travel home, especially at Dashain and Tihar, when fares are highest
  • Personal spending: phone, local transport, toiletries and clothes
  • Medical insurance, unless the college includes it
  • Nepal-side paperwork, such as the MEC letter, document attestation and translations

For parents: build a full-programme budget before you leave. Nursing means regular classes, labs and clinical postings, so your son or daughter shouldn’t rely on part-time work to pay for tuition or living costs.

Scholarships: East Point lists scholarships for students who score more than 90% in their board examination, and the group publishes the Dr S. M. Venkatpathi Scholarship for economically disadvantaged and meritorious students. Neither says whether Nepali applicants qualify, so ask our scholarship counsellors to check before you count on one.

Refunds depend on the case and the stage of admission. Ask our counsellors before you pay anything, and pay only against an official invoice.

Clinical training, internship and where this degree takes you

For a nursing student, the hospital you train in matters more than the buildings. East Point lists a 600-bed teaching hospital inside the campus, and that’s where your clinical training is based. A hospital that size gives you exposure to a wide range of wards and patients without a daily commute.

Where the degree takes you. East Point doesn’t publish placement data for nursing, so we don’t quote a placement rate. These are the routes:

  • Nepal: register with the Nepal Nursing Council after passing its licensing exam. See the recognition section above.
  • India: INC guidance says foreign nationals aren’t registered with Indian State Nursing Councils for employment, so don’t plan your career around nursing work in India.
  • Abroad: the UK, Gulf and US routes start from an INC-recognised degree, plus that country’s own exam and English test.

Hostel, safety and campus facilities

Your parents will want to know where you sleep and who is responsible for you. Here is what the college lists:

  • Separate hostels for boys and girls, with rooms described as fully furnished and spacious
  • Hostel fee: listed at INR 60,000–70,000 a year for BSc students and INR 50,000–60,000 for GNM students (third-party listing, 2025–26)
  • On-campus medical facilities, with the 600-bed teaching hospital on the same site

Campus facilities

  • Library with textbooks and reference collections
  • Classrooms and laboratories
  • Indoor and outdoor sports complex
  • Food court and canteen
  • Auditorium
  • College bus
  • Wi-Fi

Before you pay, ask us to confirm the room sharing, warden arrangements, gate timings and what the mess serves.

Admission for Nepali students — eligibility, documents and steps

Eligibility

For BSc Nursing, East Point’s published criteria ask for:

  • 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English
  • At least 45% aggregate
  • Minimum age 17
  • Medical fitness

For GNM, you need 10+2 with English and at least 40%, aged 17 to 35. Science is preferred but not compulsory.

IELTS or PTE: not required. Neither East Point nor the INC lists an English test for admission.

The KCET question. East Point states that BSc Nursing candidates must appear for KCET, run by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). GNM is selected on merit. Because the published rules are written for Indian applicants, we get written confirmation of your foreign-national category and admission route from the college before you apply. Entrance rules also differ from state to state, which our guide to BSc Nursing in India covers in more detail.

Documents you will need

  • SEE/SLC certificate and marksheet
  • NEB 10+2 certificate, marksheet, transcript and character certificate
  • Transfer and migration certificates, as applicable
  • Nepali citizenship certificate and passport
  • Recent passport-size photographs (East Point’s general admission page lists five)
  • Medical fitness certificate
  • Entrance exam or rank documents, where they apply
  • Equivalence documents for a foreign applicant
  • MEC eligibility letter and Nepal education NOC documents, where they apply
  • The official admission offer and fee invoice, before you send any payment

East Point’s general list also asks for Aadhaar and Indian income or caste certificates, which don’t apply to you. We ask the college for a checklist for Nepali applicants instead.

How to apply from Nepal

  • Send us your NEB marksheet on WhatsApp. We check it against East Point’s criteria and help you choose between GNM and BSc.
  • Category and route check. We get written confirmation of your foreign-applicant category, the selection route and seat availability.
  • KCET check (BSc only). We confirm whether and how KCET applies to you.
  • Nepal-side requirements. We help you through the MEC eligibility process and the education NOC.
  • Fees. We get the current fee sheet, hostel charges and official payment instructions.
  • Documents. Our counsellors review every document before it goes to the college.
  • Application and offer. We apply for you, and you pay only after an official admission offer.
  • Joining. You collect receipts, joining instructions and hostel confirmation, then travel and report.

Timing. The Indian Nursing Council’s academic year starts on 1 August. For 2026–27, the council’s final admission date for nursing programs is 31/10/2026, but colleges can fill their seats sooner.

Getting to Bangalore from Nepal — and life once you are there

Flying is the practical route. Bangalore is about 1,800 km from Kathmandu by air. Nepal Airlines flies non-stop to Kempegowda International Airport in about 3 hours 25 minutes, and Air India Express lists a non-stop service from 25/10/2026. Other routes connect through Delhi or Kolkata. Check schedules before you book. Avalahalli is in east Bangalore and the airport is north of the city, so allow time for the road trip.

Documents to travel. Nepali citizens don’t need a visa to study in India. Travel on your passport. The Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi lists either the passport or the citizenship certificate as valid for air travel to India, but at least one airline accepts only a passport or voter ID for adults.

Daily life. Bangalore is mild all year. Kannada is the local language, but English and Hindi are widely used. Get an Indian SIM card in your first week.

Frequently asked questions

Is the BSc Nursing from East Point valid in Nepal?

Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences awards the degree, and the college is listed as recognised by the Indian Nursing Council and the Karnataka State Nursing Council. To work in Nepal, you register with the Nepal Nursing Council after passing its licensing exam. You’ll also need an eligibility letter from Nepal’s Medical Education Commission, so arrange it before you leave.

Do I have to sit KCET to study BSc Nursing at East Point?

East Point says BSc Nursing candidates must appear for KCET, Karnataka’s entrance test run by KEA. Its published rules are written for Indian applicants, so we get written confirmation of your category and admission route from the college before you apply or pay anything.

What NEB marks do I need?

For BSc Nursing, you need 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and at least 45% aggregate, and you must be at least 17. For GNM, you need 10+2 with English and at least 40%, aged 17 to 35. Send us your marksheet on WhatsApp and we’ll check it.

Can I study GNM at East Point without science?

East Point’s published GNM criteria prefer science but don’t require it, as long as you have 10+2 with English and at least 40%. GNM is taught by East Point School of Nursing and examined by the Karnataka State Diploma in Nursing Examination Board, not RGUHS.

How much does East Point cost, including hostel?

A third-party listing for 2025–26 puts BSc tuition at INR 1–1.5 lakh a year and hostel at INR 60,000–70,000, so a full four-year BSc comes to roughly NPR 10.7–14.6 lakh. GNM is lower. We get the college’s written fee sheet before you pay.

Is there a 600-bed hospital for clinical training?

Yes. The college lists a 600-bed teaching hospital inside the East Point campus, and your clinical training is based there. Training on the same site where you study and live saves you a daily commute to postings.

Is there a separate hostel for girls?

Yes. East Point runs separate hostels for boys and girls, with rooms described as fully furnished and spacious, and on-campus medical facilities. Before you pay, we’ll confirm the room sharing, warden arrangements, gate timings and what the mess serves.

Do I need IELTS or PTE?

No. Neither East Point nor the Indian Nursing Council lists an English test for admission, and you’re taught in English. You’ll only need IELTS, OET or a similar test later if you register as a nurse in the UK, the Gulf or another English-speaking country.

Is there a scholarship for Nepali students?

East Point lists scholarships for students scoring more than 90% in their board exam, and the group publishes the Dr S. M. Venkatpathi Scholarship. Neither says whether Nepali applicants qualify, so ask us to check before you plan your budget around one.

Can I work as a nurse in India after graduating?

Don’t plan on it. Indian Nursing Council guidance says foreign nationals, including Nepali citizens, who study nursing in India are not registered with an Indian State Nursing Council for employment. Most students use the degree to register in Nepal or start an overseas route.

Do I need a visa to study in India from Nepal?

No. Nepali citizens don’t need a visa to study in India. Travel on your passport. The Embassy of Nepal also lists the citizenship certificate for air travel, but some airlines accept only a passport or voter ID from adults.

When do admissions close?

For 2026–27, the Indian Nursing Council’s final admission date is 31/10/2026, though colleges can fill their seats earlier. The academic year starts on 1 August. Message us on WhatsApp for East Point’s dates for the next intake.
