BSc Optometry is a specialized 3-4 year undergraduate allied health program, structured as 3 years of academic study with 6 semesters, followed by a mandatory 1-year clinical internship. The curriculum covers ocular anatomy, visual optics, binocular vision, contact lens practice, low vision rehabilitation, and diagnosis of refractive errors, along with training in primary eye health and clinical optometry practices. To pursue a BSc Optometry, students must complete 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Through structured hospital training and clinical exposure, students develop hands-on clinical skills and diagnostic competencies by working alongside ophthalmologists, ophthalmic specialists, and healthcare teams in eye hospitals and vision care clinics. This practical training enables students to conduct eye examinations, detect vision problems, prescribe corrective lenses, and support the treatment of eye diseases in real-time clinical environments.
