For BPharm, students generally need to pass +2 Science or equivalent with science subjects. Students from Diploma/Proficiency Certificate Level in Pharmacy or related health science programs may also be eligible if they meet MEC requirements and are registered with the concerned professional council where required. The revised MEC syllabus document mentions that health science diploma graduates need at least 50% aggregate and registration in the relevant council such as Nepal Pharmacy Council, Nepal Health Professional Council, Nepal Nursing Council, or Nepal Ayurveda Council depending on the program.

The BPharm CEE exam is an MCQ-based entrance exam. The exam has 200 questions, full marks is 200, and the duration is 3 hours. Each correct answer carries 1 mark, and there is 0.25 negative marking for each wrong answer. The pass criterion is generally the 50th percentile, so students must perform well compared to other applicants, not just pass a fixed mark.

Main Subject Areas

BPharm entrance preparation mainly includes Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Physics, and pharmacy-specific content. A recent BPharm syllabus breakdown lists Chemistry 40 questions, Physics 40 questions, and PCL/Diploma-level specific pharmacy content 20 questions, along with biology sections such as Zoology and Botany.

Important Topics to Prepare

In Chemistry, students should focus on physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, applied chemistry, and analytical chemistry. Important areas include chemical bonding, mole concept, equilibrium, thermodynamics, electrochemistry, acids and bases, organic reactions, hydrocarbons, biomolecules, polymers, coordination compounds, and basic analytical techniques.

In Physics, students should prepare mechanics, heat and thermodynamics, waves and optics, current electricity, magnetism, electrostatics, capacitors, modern physics, and numerical problem-solving. Physics requires regular formula revision and repeated numerical practice.

In Biology, students should study both Zoology and Botany. Important areas include human biology, human diseases, animal diversity, animal tissues, environment, cell biology, genetics, biodiversity, ecology, plant anatomy, plant physiology, and applied botany.

In Pharmacy-specific content, students should focus on basic pharmacology, pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacognosy, dispensing pharmacy, hospital and clinical pharmacy basics, drug classification, dosage forms, routes of drug administration, prescription reading, storage of medicines, adverse drug reactions, and pharmacy ethics.

How to Prepare Effectively

A good BPharm CEE preparation plan should include complete syllabus coverage, concept-based classes, chapter-wise MCQ practice, daily tests, weekly mock tests, model question sets, and doubt-clearing sessions. Since the exam has 200 questions in 3 hours, students must improve both speed and accuracy. Chemistry is very important for pharmacy, so students should give special focus to organic chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry-related basics, calculations, and reactions. Physics should be practiced daily with formulas and numericals, while Biology should be revised frequently because factual questions can help students score quickly.

Students should also practice full-length mock exams to improve time management. After every test, they should review mistakes and make a separate weak-topic list. Random guessing should be avoided because of negative marking. During the exam, students should first solve easy and confident questions, then return to difficult questions after completing the known sections.
