Get your doubts cleared with dedicated support sessionsThe Medical Education Common Entrance Examination for Bachelor Level Programs, abbreviated as MECEE BL, is a medical entrance examination held in Nepal for individuals aspiring to pursue health professional Education (MBBS, BDS, BSc Nursing, BASLP, B.Perfusion Technology, BAMS, BNS, BSc MLT, BSc MIT, B.Pharm, B.Optometry, BPT and BPH).
National Medical Education Act 2075 has envisioned the common entrance examination to be conducted by Medical Education Commission (MEC) for enrollment of students in various programs and colleges throughout the country. For conducting the Bachelor level common entrance examination, MEC prepared a common syllabus in consultation with experts from various institutions with experience in bachelor level entrance examination.
Conducted by the Medical Education Commission, this examination is designed for both Nepali and international candidates seeking admission to medical professional education programs.
The questions for all programs within the same cluster are identical, and the merit lists for these four clusters are published at different times. Students can choose from the available options within their cluster.
The four clusters are:
- I. MBBS, BDS, BSc Nursing/B Sc Midwifery, BASLP & B Perfusion Technolog
- II. BAMS, BSc MLT, BSc MIT/BSc Radiotherapy Technology, BPT, B Pharm & B Optometry
- III. BPH (Bachelor in Public Health)
- IV. BNS (Bachelor in Nursing Science)/BMS (Bachelor in Midwifery Science)
About Entrance examination and admission:
- There will be 200 MCQs. Multiple choice questions (MCQs) will be of Single Best Response Type (Type A) with
four options. The stem or vignette of the MCQs should not exceed 60 words. - One mark will be given for each correct answer and 0.25 marks will be deducted for a wrong answer.
- The duration of exam will be 3 hours.
- 20 MCQs will come from Mental Agility Test.
- Difficulty level of the items should be set from the time of item preparation as:
1. Recall: 50%
2. Understanding: 30%
3. Application and above: 20% of the cognitive domain of learning - Pass mark: Candidates should score 50th percentile or above to be in merit list.
- The selection of candidate will be done by the open house matching process.
- If the number of merit candidates is less than the available seats allocated for foreign candidates, matching will be done only once.
- There will be a separate merit list for each academic program. However, after matching and admission in an academic program, s/he name will be deleted from all the matching process.
- Candidates who are selected for admission are required to produce original documents during admission in the university/academy.
- Candidates will be responsible for all travel arrangements. Candidates should abide by the current rules and regulations laid down by the Government of Nepal.
- Medical Education Common Entrance Committee reserves all the rights regarding entrance examination.
